Ryder CUP News: Europeans lead 5-3

September 23, 2006

“Led by Garcia’s two victories and Clarke’s emotional win, Europe took a 5-3 lead after the first two sets of matches. It was a lead that could have been bigger. Likewise, the American deficit wouldn’t have been a deficit at all were it not for a wayward inch here or there.”

Tiger played par golf at best relying on Furyk most of the day to win their first match in the morning.  Tiger’s first time scoring a point in the first round in nine years.  It accounted for the U.S. only outright win in the morning.  Then later in the day at the alternate shot match between Woods\Furyk vs. Donald\Garvia.  Furky blew up on hole 18 costing the U.S. the match.   “No excuses there,” Furyk said. “I made a bad swing.”

After the Irish press talked shit to Tiger about his wife and Garcia saying he looked forward to playing Tiger in the first round do to the fact of Tiger’s less than stellar record in the Ryder Cup. I expected Tiger to be more fired up like when he defeated Stephen Ames in the Match Play Championship earlier this year.  Ames talked shit about how Tiger was hitting the ball at the time.  Tiger was motivated to say the least.  “Woods won the first nine holes — seven of them with birdies — and closed out Stephen Ames as early as mathematically possible, 9 and 8.”

It’s still early into Ryder Cup play anything can happen.

PS3 Price Drop

September 22, 2006

http://www.engadget.com/2006/09/22/ps3-price-cut-by-20-now-includes-hdmi-1-3/

“Sony exec Ken Kutaragi just sent jaws to the floor over at Tokyo Game Show with an announced price cut of the 20GB PS3 base unit from ¥62,790 to ¥49,980 in Japan. Closer to home, we’d be looking at a move from about $538 to $428 (looking at current exchange rates) representing a drop of some 20% when the PS3 hits later this year, or uh, early next if the cut applies across the board. Not exactly cheap when looking at the Wii or Xbox 360, but that Cell processor, Blu-ray Disc player, and HDMI 1.3 output supporting Deep Color will certainly draw a premium.  UPDATE: Price reduction confirmed for Japan only. Waiting on rest-of-world price cuts, if any.”

Now I might actually consider buying one. Probably not at launch but maybe after a couple months when the first wave has shipped. I already own a Xbox 360. I will defiantly pick up a Wii at launch. Things are getting interesting in the world of gaming.

Internet Worse For Grades Than Alcohol?

September 20, 2006

This article poses the question is the Internet worse for grades than alcohol? I now pose the question how could someone make it through college without alcohol and the Internet? From personal experience my college career would of been a lot more stressful and tougher without both. Consider all the college students who pass classes by never writing a single word of their own in a essay. Without the Internet this would be a extremely difficult task. Students might actually have to learn something. With the abcense of alcohol, god-bless it, parties would be lame, ugly girls would never have sex with guys and vice versa. It could be argued without the Internet and alcohol college enrollment would drop dramatically.
